THE WOMAN BEHIND THE TREATS
Meet Jayne
The story of a love for dogs, good ingredients and a little business that grew into something much bigger.
How It All Started
I started making dog treats in 2017 with a simple goal: to make wholesome, healthy treats packed with quality goodness, at a price that dog owners could feel good about.
I'm based in beautiful Sedgefield on the Garden Route, where life moves a little more slowly and the tortoise sets the pace. It's the perfect place for a small, handmade business — and for making treats with care rather than rushing through the process.
Made With Good Ingredients
Over the years, my range has grown — largely thanks to my five very enthusiastic four-legged taste testers! I make a variety of biscuits, chews and other treats by hand, using quality ingredients and traditional methods.
For my wheat-based biscuits, I use traditional unbleached stone-ground wholemeal wheat flour, with no unnecessary additives or preservatives. My liver biltong is simply sliced and naturally sun-dried, with no added salt or preservatives.
I believe that when we're choosing something to give our dogs, the ingredients really matter. That's why I take care with what goes into every batch, from mixing and baking to drying and packing.

THE STORY BEHIND THE TREATS
Jayne's Journey
There was no grand plan — just a love of dogs, good treats and a business that grew along the way.
2017 — Taking the Leap
I took over the liver treats in June 2017 and started baking and selling my own treats. From the very beginning, you could find me at the Wild Oats Market in Sedgefield.
The Early Days — Part Time
For the first few years, Jayne's Dog Treats was something I fitted in around everything else. I was making treats, meeting customers at the market and slowly growing the business.
Growing Along the Way — A Few More Shops
As the business grew, so did the number of shops I supplied. There was no big master plan — just good treats, happy customers and a business that kept moving forward.
After Covid — My Everything
After the lull of Covid, things changed. What had started as a part-time venture became my full-time job — and Jayne's Dog Treats became my everything.
Today — Still Baking With Love
I'm still making, baking and packing treats by hand from Sedgefield, with the same focus on good ingredients, happy dogs and doing things with care.
VERY IMPORTANT JOBS
Tested by the Experts
Every batch gets the ultimate seal of approval from my five furry ambassadors — Jock, Diego, Duke, Chloe and Princess Tara. They're always happy to make sure the treats pass the most important test: delicious!
